Guide to Bed and Breakfast Award Ratings
The accommodation listed on Guestaccom have ratings displayed where appropriate. We display only a star rating system which is sometimes diamond or equivalent.
VisitBritain (formerly the English Tourism Council), VisitScotland, Wales Tourist Board, the AA, the RAC operate a harmonised rating scheme for assessing the quality of serviced accommodation in Britain.
The Inspections
Each organisation uses a set of common standard requirements to determine the Star rating. The star rating awarded will be the same irrespective of which organisation inspects an establishment to remove any confusion.
All rated accommodation must must fulfil all the statutory obligations including fire precautions, price display orders, food safety and hygiene, licensing, health and safety, discrimination, trade descriptions, data protection and the Hotel Proprietors Act.
The inspections focus on assessing a number of key areas including service and efficiency, bathrooms, shower rooms and en-suites facilities, guest meals and the public areas.
